16 Weeks!

How far along? 16 weeks!

Size of the baby? An Avocado (4-5 inches, 3-5 oz)

Maternity Clothes? I haven't really bought any maternity clothes, my mom has bought me a few shirts but seriously, I have no pants that fit, so I haven't gotten any use out of the shirts. I need to go get a few pair of shorts, I think I will be more comfortable..

Weight Gain:  I honestly don't really know my exact start weight, I go to the doctor on Thursday and I am going to ask. I don't really want to know. I feel like as long as I am healthy and eating good, the number doesn't matter, but I have always felt this way, so whatever. :)

Stretch Marks? None! I really hope it stays this way but, I am horrible about putting lotion on in general so it will probably be my own fault!

Gender? We obviously DO NOT care, we just want a healthy baby! I have thought the whole time though that it will be a boy but, as we get closer and closer to our ultrasound I am starting to have this gut feeling that we are going to be in for a sweet surprise in a few weeks!

Movement? I don't really know what it feels like, but I am almost positive I felt a little flutter the other night. :)

Sleep? This has honestly been my biggest struggle so far. I LOVE my sleep and ever since I have been pregnant, it has been horrible! The first 12 weeks or so I honestly felt like my brain was awake the whole time. I never woke up feeling rested. I use to be such a heavy sleeper that I just got so frustrated with the fact that I was awake for hours at a time in the middle of the night. It has gotten a much better in the past month, praise the Lord. I am sure everyone around me is just as happy as I am! :)

Food Cravings? I don't feel like I am craving anything in particular, I am just hungry all the time so everything sounds good...oh well.

What I miss: I told Pete the only thing I miss that I can't have is a shrimp Caesar salad from Outback! It is so good!

Symptoms: I really have gotten lucky with this. At the beginning I was nauseous at night, but was never really "sick" and that has gone away for the most part. I have had a constant headache for at least a week now and it gets really bad at night. Sometimes it wakes me up it is so bad. My MIL got me some headache reliever stuff to rub on my head and that has worked a little bit.

Best Moment of the Week: We are excited for our doctors appointment on Thursday because we get to schedule our next ultrasound, and fingers crossed we will be able to find out the gender!!! Yahoo!

Back into the swing of things!

I feel like I am going to be confused of what day it is for at least a week! Starting Thursday my days became a blur. One of my mom's best friends and her son, daughter, and 3 of the girls best friends are in Florida this week. They live in Columbia, MO so they headed down last Thursday afternoon and got here just in time for dinner. They wanted to go to Tractors, I feel like anyone who use to live in Jackson, when they come back to visit, it is a given that Tractors will be their restaurant of choice! It doesn't bother me one bit! :) After dinner we all just sat around and caught up. Three of their 4 children are in college in other states so it was nice to see their son Taylor, it has been awhile! They all got up and on the road by 5 on Friday morning! Because I am my mom's "assistant", my job gets a lot more important when she is out of town. When I got up I worked for a few hours and then headed to Cape to have coffee with one of my friends who is due 1 day after me :)! Then headed over to my friend Shelby's house, who I use to work with at Healthpoint. She quit a few weeks after me because she had her little cutie, Tristan! He is 3 months now and couldn't be any cuter! By the time I finished all my visits, Pete was off work and working on our house so I headed over there and then we went and met my dad for dinner at bww bc he had a gift card someone had given him for his birthday! I was worn out and headed home and called it a night!

Saturday, I honestly did not do much, at all! Helped my dad in the yard for a few hours and then layed out the rest of the day! One of my best friends Lauren was in town(she lives in NYC!) so she came over and got a few hours of sun with me! It was so nice to catch up in person and not over the phone! That night Pete and I went to dinner with some of our favorites, Eric and Megan-we always have a good time!

Sunday, Pete and I ran around like crazy people getting all our supplies for workday Monday then headed over to our friends Brad and Kristi's for a bbq. I feel like we all haven't hung out since our trip to Texas in March. It was good to catch up!! Monday we had a crew come over and work on the house and we got soo much accomplished! Thank you soo much to my Uncle Lee, Aunt Terri, my dad, Pete's parents and his friend Caleb for spending their day off helping us! We appreciate it SO much! Just a few more finishing touches and hopefully it will be ready for us to move in!!!
That wraps up my super long, busy weekend. You could see now why I lost track off all my days, ha ha. I knew that I was horrible at taking pictures, but this post proves that even more! Ugh, maybe one day! I am working on it! I need to get back to work-the boss is out all week, which means less play time for me! ;)

The big news

This post might be a little TMI and a little long for some people so don't say that I didn't warn you :)

I'll just go ahead and start from the beginning to make this story less confusing. Pete and I had not really talked about when we wanted to have kids when we were dating/engaged. It just wasn't one of the conversations that ever came up or matter until later. Though, once we were married, I feel like it was one of the first things we talked about. My sister had just had our nephew Wyatt a few months before that and I don't think either one of us thought we could have so much love for a kid that wasn't even ours. With that being said, we decided that we were just not going to prevent, and when God wanted to bless us with a child then he would do so! A year and 4 months later, with a few months of heartache inbetween, we found out we were pregnant! Our "months" would range anywhere from 29-64 days so it was definitely more of a challenge than either one of us thought it would ever be. Because of that, I never really knew when I was "late" enough to take a test. My last cycle started on January 5th(again, TMI!) so by that, I thought "late" would be middle of February, I took a test and it was negative. I didn't think much about it and went on with my life. A week went by and still nothing, so I took another test, negative. We were going to a wedding in Texas the weekend of St. Patrick's Day and we were carpooling with 3 other couples, I wanted to make sure before we left that I wasn't, so that I knew if it was safe to have a few drinks at the wedding or not. I took another test the week before we left, negative. For some reason I just did not believe the test, so I made a doctor appointment Thursday afternoon, right before we left town. She drew my blood and told me to call Friday morning sometime for the results. We left for the trip, got to Tunica for the night and I called first thing Friday morning before we got in the van with 6 other people, and of course they did not have the results in yet, but were happy to call as soon as they got them. At this point, I was thinking fabulous, just my luck, she is going to call me when we are in the car with everyone else. Which that wasn't a huge deal for me because the friends that we were with are some of our closest friends and they would be the first to know anyways, but it is just not how you imagine you will be finding out you are going to be having a child!!
*Quick side story*
--Pete had applied for a job within AT&T located in St.Louis and he got the position, but we were back and forth if it was worth us moving or not, and he had to let them know Friday around noon. So, at the hotel Thursday night, Pete and I were walking back to our room and I said tomorrow could be a big day for us, we are going to decide if we are moving or not(nothing like last minute decision makers, ha ha.) and if we are having a kid! He said to me, we are not having a kid, you took 3 test and they were all negative, I don't think those things are that wrong. :)--
Back in the van and about 11:00am my phone rings, it is the doctor. I sit up, look back at Patty, one of my best friends who was in the car that knew what was going on with a straight, blank face. Answer the phone, and the nurse says, in the most calm, happy voice, "hey Erin, I just wanted to let you know that we got your blood work in and the results were positive, so congrats!" I just looked at Patty and I am sure my face was priceless, I just said "okay, thanks a lot, that was kind of unexpected, but thank you so much!" When I got off the phone I just kind of sat there for a minute and then tapped Pete on the shoulder because he was in the seat in front of me and was like, uh that was the doctor, and I'm pregnant!! At this point, all the girls had figured out what was happening, we were all in the back of the van, so we all talked about it and celebrated together! :) Funny though, I bet us girls talked about it for at least 30 minutes and multiples times throughout the rest of the trip and some how, NONE of the boys listened close enough to figure it out. It just proves that boys really do tune us o.u.t.!!! ;)
Pete and I could not have been more excited no matter how we found out! I didn't even think about the job in St. Louis until Saturday night sometime, and I looked at Pete and said "crap, we forgot to decide on the job!" He told me that he went ahead and called and told them no because he thought finding out we were going to be parents was a big enough sign that it was not worth moving away from family! What a smart man! ;) The doctor had no clue how far along I was and wanted me to come back in for more blood work, so the Monday we got back in town I went in right away and they said I was right at 7 weeks! A few days later we left to go to Pete's rewards trip in Miami and we were both still in awe talking and thinking about it the whole trip.
It is CRAZY how much everything is in God's timing, this was just one more example to us that he is in total control! We are now 15 weeks along, and everything is going so smoothly! We heard the precious little heartbeat this morning and it was in the 150 range! We will hopefully find out the gender sometime in the middle of June!! We  I can not wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So that is a crazy story of how we found out we were expecting, sorry it was so wordy, but I wanted to make sure I had every detail written down!

Decisions, Decisions

So a lot has happened since the last blog post! I have been back and forth if I should delete my blog or not, simply because I never update. Since we are having a baby in November :), moving into a new house, both starting new careers (hopefully-more on that when it is official) in the next year I thought I should keep the blog. I am thinking that once I have a child I will blog more...shouldn't it be the opposite? haha, o well. Another main decision factor was that one of Pete's sisters lives in New Mexico and the other one is getting ready to move to Australia and my best friend lives in New York City, I feel like this blog will be a perfect way for everyone far away to stay in contact with us..the main reason why most people have blogs...:)
Like I said above, which most of my readers are personal family or friends so they know the news already but, we are having a baby in November! We are beyond excited!! I will do a separate post about how we found it, it was as crazy of a story as it should being us! ha. Now that I feel like I am showing a little bit, I will start doing weekly belly post and all that jazz also, so get ready!

Hope you all have a fabulous hump day!

New House!

Surprise, surprise it has been awhile since my last post. Since that time, we have closed on our next house! I am really in love with this house. Which, that is not always a good thing because I know we need/want to flip this one, but once it is all finished this is the style and size of house I would want to live in at this point of our lives. Our first house was a 4 bedroom and had a ton of living space and it was just two much for the two of us, I mean I used a whole entire bedroom as our closest, don't get me wrong that was a dream closet for sure, but just too much space. This house we have now has 3 bedrooms plus a formal living room and a family room, which is probably my favorite quality!! We are doing major construction in the kitchen, it is going to look so good when it is finished! Yesterday Pete and I worked on the house all afternoon and I joked with him that we should have our own TV show. I know other people that flip houses probably flip more per year and are quicker, but I doubt they have as much fun as we do! :) Don't get me wrong, it can be challenging, working with Pete on a big project like this but in the end, we are a great team! I have been taking pictures as we go, so I will post some soon! Have a fabulous Monday!

Happy New Year!

So everyone is doing a post on their new year goals, resolutions, and such. I decided that I am not going to set any "goals" for the new year per se, I am just excited about all of the changes. Most of it is because all of our new things landed at the end of this year, but half is because for some reason I just feel different going into 2012. I feel like I am really starting my adult life. I know that is probably a weird thing to say considering I have been married and graduated college for over a year. But, I am going to be real honest here..I am only 22 (almost 23) years old and my husband is 28. Most of my friends just graduated college this December and some last May. Most of my friends are single and living the college life so it was hard for me to adjust to my lifestyle and try to stay connected to my friends. That has been the biggest adjustment of them all. Pete has been the most supportive and understanding husband through all of these transitions. I do not deal well with change and he always knows what to say to talk me through it. I am getting better about "going with the flow" but that is not an overnight fix :) Now a year later, most of my best friends are in the same or close stage of life as me. It is easier to relate to each other and for them to understand what I have been doing for the past year. I think this is one of the big reasons I feel so much different now. I also quit my job at the gym, which I have been working at for 4 years, that was my college job and I knew when I quit, my life was going to change in a lot of ways. I am working for my mom and learning her part of the family business. I am very excited about this opportunity and everything that goes into learning a family business. I am also still doing wedding planning and flowers on the side along with helping my in-laws in expanding a part of their website. All of these things I have talked about doing for a long time and now they are all actually happening. On top of ALL of that, we are keeping our fingers crossed that we will close on another house sometime in the next few weeks. It needs a lot of work but, I am really starting to enjoy flipping houses and maybe will make a career out of something along those lines someday, who knows! :) We also already have 6 wedding's to attend, 3 of which Pete are in and I am in 1 and doing the flowers for another!
We have a lot going on already in 2012 and can't wait to see what all God has in store for our family! It is going to be a great year!
With Love,
Erin

5 Question Friday.

5 Question Friday
1. Do you have a go to song that always puts you in a good mood?
Not really one song in particular, but I do enjoy a good country song or a praise song that I know every word to, when I can sing along to the whole thing it makes me feel so much better for some reason :)

2. Are you a real Christmas tree kinda person or do you go with a real fake one?
We had a fake tree last year. Pete's mom always has a real tree so we might get a real one one of these days. We had a real tree one year when I was a kid and if I remember right it really messed with my allergies, so we will see.

3. What are you thankful for?
I really am thankful for the relationship that I have with my family and my in-laws. I couldn't have married into a better family!!

4. Which fashion fad from the past do you wish you could wear today?
I don't think there is a certain fad from the past that I miss. I do miss being able to wear sweats everyday because I was in college and it didn't matter. haha.

5. Do you wait until the "low fuel" light comes on before you fill up the gas tank?
You betcha! Except, my darling husband hates when I do this and since I drive our "primary vehicle" he usually fills it up for me when we are together. Kind of nice that I haven't really had to get gas since we have been married. He spoils me, big time!!!
This weekend we leave for vacation! We are going to Colorado for the week of Thanksgiving with Pete's family! I am so excited, the drive is going to be an adventure I am sure, but it will be a good time!! Can't wait to tell you all about it! :)
